Designed in the UK, for British weather
Cuddlr started with a simple problem: Mike was tired of being cold whilst winter fishing - and nothing on the market actually kept the cold out. So we set about making something that did.
We're a UK business with a UK team, designing for the weather we actually live in - grey, wet, wind-blown British winters. Every pair is built and tested against the real conditions our customers face, not a mild idea of "cold."

The reflective yarn
How does the reflective yarn work?
The yarn itself contains tiny retroreflective fibres woven directly into the knit. In low light or darkness, when a light source — a car headlight, a cyclist's lamp — hits the hat, those fibres bounce the light straight back toward the source. You don't need a separate reflective strip. It's built in.
Will I be able to see the reflective yarn in daylight?
In normal daylight the hat looks like any other warm knit hat — no hi-vis, no safety-vest feel. The reflective property only activates when a direct light source hits it in low light. Wear it all day, stand out when it counts.
Does washing affect the reflectivity?
The reflective fibres are woven into the yarn, not a surface coating, so they won't wash off. Machine wash cold (max 30°C) and air-dry to keep the hat in the best shape for longest.
Is it actually bright enough to be seen by cars?
Yes. The retroreflective yarn is the same technology used in road safety gear — it reflects light directly back to the source rather than scattering it. In darkness with headlights on, it's clearly visible. It's not a substitute for lights on a bike, but as a passive safety layer on a dog walk, commute, or early-morning run, it makes a real difference.

What size is the Beacon?
One size fits most. The Beacon is knitted with a stretch construction that adapts to your head — snug enough to stay put, relaxed enough to be comfortable all day.
Is it unisex?
Yes. The Beacon is designed to fit all head shapes and sizes — no mens or womens version, just one hat that works for everyone.
How should it fit on my head?
The brim should sit just above your ears or fold down over them if you want extra coverage. The crown should rest naturally without pulling. If it feels tight, give it a gentle stretch — the knit relaxes with a bit of wear.
Warmth
How warm is the Beacon?
Genuinely warm. It's a proper knit hat built for cold weather — not a fashion beanie that lets wind cut straight through. The tight knit construction traps warm air close to your head, making it well suited for autumn through winter use.
Is it windproof?
The dense knit significantly reduces wind chill compared to a loose weave. It's not a hard-shell windproof layer, but it's noticeably better than most knitwear for keeping the cold out.
Care
How do I wash the Beacon?
Machine wash cold, max 30°C, on a gentle cycle. Air-dry flat — do not tumble dry. This keeps the knit in shape and the reflective fibres working as they should.
Can I tumble dry it?
No — tumble drying can distort the knit and shrink the hat. Air-dry flat after washing to keep the fit and shape.
