Cuddlr started with a simple problem: Mike was tired of being cold whilst winter fishing - and nothing on the market actually kept the cold out. So we set about making something that did.
We're a UK business with a UK team, designing for the weather we actually live in - grey, wet, wind-blown British winters. Every pair is built and tested against the real conditions our customers face, not a mild idea of "cold."

The microfibre
What makes microfibre better than a regular towel?
Microfibre has a much finer fibre structure than cotton — more surface area making contact with your skin, which means it pulls water away faster. You're dry in seconds rather than minutes of rubbing. It also holds several times its own weight in water, so it keeps working even when it feels damp.
What is the Cocoon made from?
85% polyester, 15% polyamide microfibre with a suede-touch finish. The polyamide content is what gives it the soft feel — most cheap microfibre is polyester-only and feels scratchy. The blend here is designed to be soft enough to use on your face, absorbent enough to replace a bath towel.
Will it feel scratchy against my skin?
No. The suede-touch weave is deliberately softer than standard microfibre — it's the same texture you'd expect from a premium sports towel, not the rough feel of a cheap gym freebie. Wash it before first use (cold, separately) and it softens further.
Absorbency & drying
How quickly does it dry me off?
Fast. Microfibre absorbs water on contact rather than needing pressure and friction like cotton — a couple of passes and you're dry. Most people find they're done before they would have finished towelling off with a standard bath towel.
How quickly does the towel itself dry out?
Much faster than cotton. Microfibre releases moisture quickly — in most conditions it's dry again within an hour or two of use. That means you can pack it away damp without it going musty, though we'd always recommend airing it out when you can rather than leaving it rolled up wet.
Can I use it for my hair as well as my body?
Yes. Microfibre is gentler on hair than cotton because it absorbs without rough friction — better for your hair, and it dries just as fast.
Size & portability
How compact does it pack down?
Small. The Cocoon rolls up tightly and is held with an integrated elastic band — roughly the size of a large water bottle. It's designed to live in a kit bag permanently without taking up meaningful space.
Is the elastic band built in or separate?
Built in — it's attached to the towel so there's nothing to lose. Roll the towel, loop the band around it, done.
Care
How do I wash the Cocoon?
Machine wash cold, on a gentle cycle. Wash separately before first use — this removes any manufacturing residue and activates the absorbency. Do not bleach, iron, tumble dry or dry clean. Air-dry out of direct sunlight.
Why does it need a separate wash first?
Microfibre towels can shed fine fibres when new — washing separately first means those don't transfer onto your other laundry. It also activates the absorbency fully, so your first use is as good as every use after that.
Can I tumble dry it?
No. High heat damages microfibre and reduces its absorbency over time. Air-dry flat or hang — it dries quickly enough that tumble drying isn't needed anyway.
Can I pack it away damp?
For short periods, yes — microfibre resists going musty better than cotton. But don't leave it rolled up wet for days. Air it out as soon as you're home.
